Nokia's finally done what we've been thinking it will do for years: brought out a tablet.

Alright, you could argue that the likes of the 1520 were pretty close, but in the Lumia 2520 it's finally got something to rival the iPad.

Perhaps it won't do so on sales. Nor on user opinion. But it's the first salvo in a war its newly-acquired sugar daddy, Microsoft, desperately wants it to fight in.

Despite Nokia recently having been acquired by Microsoft, the Lumia 2520 sees the firm directly competing with the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablet. The Finnish phone maker, like Microsoft, clearly wants to attract business customers, as it has provided the slate with Microsoft Office, Outlook and an optional Power Cover keyboard.

The Lumia 2520 tablet features a 10.1in 1920x1080 resolution touchscreen, powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and running Microsoft's Windows RT 8.1 operating system. Design
	I had the chance to see the tablet before its launch and what strikes me most about the 2520 is its design. The tablet has a smooth polycarbonate unibody chassis that covers the back and wraps around the sides of the tablet. The back has a slightly curved design that doesn't wobble much when placed on a flat surface, and its thin edges make it comfortable to hold. Overall, it feels high quality and solid. Compared with the Surface 2, it feels more compact, thinner, and lighter.

PRICE
At its Nokia World conference on Tuesday, the firm announced that the Lumia 2520 tablet will fetch $499 in the US, although it's likely to cost more in the UK.

The firm has since announced contract pricing for US buyers, too. The Nokia Lumia 2520 will fetch $399 on a 24 month AT&T tariff, although those cost will be lowered to £199.99 if picked up with a Nokia Lumia 925, Lumia 1020 or Lumia 1520 smartphone.

Nokia has yet to announce UK pricing, so we'll update this when we hear more.
Unsurprisingly, there's no details on a UK release date yet either, although the tablet will go on sale in the US on 23 November.
